DEBATE RECAP: The Kamala Club - Issue Six
The debate was the perfect example of what we’re up against. Kamala is killing the game and is running against a senile and despicable human being. Read for my response to the haters!
Dear Kamala Club,
After Tuesday’s debate, all I have to say is…
HAHAHAHAHA
I knew that Kamala would come prepared with points and poise and that Donald Trump would not have a chance. However, I didn’t expect the debate to go THAT well for her (and for the sane people of our country).
I watched the debate in DC at a bar with my dad and sister, and the watch party exceeded my expectations. With blue Kamala Koolers in hand, we erupted in laughter with the rest of the crowd at Trump’s ramblings and ABC’s unexpected fact checks. It felt like a sports bar during a particularly thrilling game when everyone there is rooting for the same team. It was electric.
From the moment that Kamala walked across the stage and shook his tiny hand, I knew that she was in control. She established her dominance and lack of trepidation, and he was caught off guard even before she repeatedly verbally baited him.
It appears that Donald Trump came prepared to debate Joe Biden again, likely due to his lack of processing abilities. I saw a tweet that said “Trump without Joe Biden is like Tom without Jerry” — he misses his old nemesis and knows he is now over-matched. His tired act was no match for the refreshing and vivacious fire that Kamala brought to the debate stage. Kamala reminded him, “You’re not running against Joe Biden. You’re running against me.”
Kamala taught a masterclass in “How to Throw Trump Off His Game.” He fell into every trap. Here are just a few ways how she hit him where it hurt… Some examples were that she:
Told people to attend his rallies - “It’s a really interesting thing to watch… what you will notice is that people start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom.” (This set him off his rocker the rest of the debate)
Reminded him that he “was fired by 81 million people”, and that he is “clearly having a difficult time processing that.” You could see the hurt on his face that she used his signature phrase against him.
Cited that “the Wharton School said [that] Donald Trump’s plan would actually explode the deficit” to which Trump couldn’t help himself and said “I went to the Wharton School of Finance, and many of those professors — the top professors — think my plan is a brilliant plan. It’s a great plan.” Right, Donald, right…
Asserted, as our VP who frequently works with world leaders, that “these dictators and autocrats are rooting for you to be president again, because they’re so clear, they can manipulate you with flattery and favors," that they think he is "a disgrace," and that “Putin would eat [him] for lunch.” AKA - he’s a wannabe dictator, and a laughable one at that.
Donald proved he’s out of his mind, threatened by Kamala and incapable of appearing polished even on the most important stage of this race… as evidenced by his incoherent ramblings that pets are being eaten and illegal aliens are having transgender surgeries in prisons.
Here are a few right-wing justifications for Trump’s decisively poor performance, and my response to them.
“It’s not fair, it was three against one” (meaning that the two moderators were on Kamala’s side)
All they were doing was fact-checking his blatant and extreme lies. Maybe if people started fact-checking him in 2016 instead of letting him get away with spouting crazy conspiracies and lies, we wouldn’t be in this position with a severely unqualified and dangerous candidate running for the highest office.
If he can’t handle two journalists fact-checking, how will he handle world leaders and opponents as president? Speaking as someone with a journalism degree, David Muir and Linsey Davis are American heroes - it’s about time that we actually call Trump’s BS and make him confront his lies. If you believe fact checking is “liberal propaganda,” you’re admitting that your platform is all based in fallacy.
“Kamala came too prepared. She must have known the questions they would ask ahead of time and practiced her answers.”
I hate to break it to the people who are struggling to process Trump’s embarrassing loss, but just because Trump clearly did not prepare for the debate, doesn’t mean Kamala can’t. You study for tests, you practice for presentations, and you most definitely should know exactly how to answer questions about the main hot-button issues at a debate when you are running for President of the United States.
“Sure, she seemed to fluster Trump, but she didn’t define herself or mention any policy.”
I would suggest reading a simple transcript of the debate and counting the number of policies she shared.
Her health care plan, her determination to bring back Roe v Wade, her housing accessibility policies, her border bill, her plan to boost small businesses, her plans for Israel and getting the hostages home (who Trump did not mention)… the list goes on.
It might have been forgotten that she announced her whole platform because the standout moments of the debate were her flaming Trump, but make no mistake, her policies were explicitly stated!
On the other hand, Trump has no policies other than fear tactics. When asked about his health care policies, Trump said “I have concepts of a plan.” Nine years and no plan is pathetic.
Now that we got those common misconceptions out of the way, we can focus on what really matters: Kamala won that debate hands down and showed just how much more presidential she is than the former president. She showed us that she has the exact temperament we need in a president - steady-handed, bold, smart and calm. Don’t believe me? He’s cowering in fear and refuses to debate her again.
It would be outrageous to allow an old, hateful man to be elected. Consequently, it would be foolish not to do everything we can to elect her instead. So? Let’s do it!
P.S. Thank you Taylor Swift for your endorsement of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz! You really are a mastermind.
